www.fomdi.com and type in your zipcode. The Philadelphia Inquirer has also been listing available open and close-captioned movies on their theater-listings pages. Note that there are two types of captioned movies available: open captioned (OC), in which the captioning is displayed right on the screen for all to see, and rear-window captioning (CC or closed captioned) in which you need a special device provided by the theater in order to read the captions. Several of the Regal theaters have one open captioned movie available at all times.FIRST ANNUAL HLAA WALKATHON

FREE ASSISTIVE LISTENING/ALERTING DEVICES AVAILABLE TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS THROUGH THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEVICE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM (TDDP): To be eligible for this program, you must meet all of the following criteria: be a PA resident age 6 years or older, be unable to use standard telephone equipment due to a disability, have the ability to learn to use specialized equipment, have telephone service, and have a gross INDIVIDUAL income of $19,600 or less (this does not include family or household income). Equipment available includes but is not limited to: TTY’s, CapTel phones, voice carry-over TTY’s, amplifiers, hands-free speakerphones, light/vibrating ring signalers, cordless phones. These aids are sold to a repair lab, and the money from the sales is used to purchase aids for their hearing aid assistance program, which works to provide aids to people with limited financial resources. SUMMER PICNIC! The Hearing Loss Assoc. of America - Gen X of Delaware Valley Chapter is sponsoring the 7th Annual Southeastern Hearing Loss Association-PA Picnic. It will be held at Ridley Creek State Park, Pavilion 11, in Newtown Square, on Saturday, July 29th, 2006, from 12 noon to 6:00pm. . Everyone is welcome, so bring family and friends. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet other HLAA folks in Pa. and nearby states, as well as to have a relaxing and fun afternoon. Picnic will be held rain or shine. HLAA-GenX will provide hamburgers and hot dogs; food contributions are greatly appreciated (see below for suggestions).
Cost is $6.00 per person/ $10 per family. RSVP by July 22, 2006.

ANNUAL EASTERN HLA-PA BANQUET: This year's banquet for eastern HLA-PA groups and their family/friends will again be held at the Conshohocken Marriott at 12 Noon on November 19, 2006. We will be serving a lunch buffet of both hot and cold items, and the cost will be $35 per person. Since we have already had our major fundraiser from the walkathon, fundraising at the banquet will be limited to a 50/50 raffle. We will also have exhibitors. The organizing committee is still working on the program/speakers. Please save this date and plan to attend. Final details will be in the September issue of HEARSAY.
REGIONAL CONFERENCE IN 2007: There will be a regional HLA conference (PA, NY, and NJ) to be held Oct. 5 - 7, 2007 at the Harrisburg Hilton in downtown Harrisburg, PA. The hotel is just a short walk from the train station, and there is onsite parking. Please mark your calendar! Details will be provided as they become available.
