ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE DEAF AND HARD OF HEARING

Mandate/Authority:
A Department of Labor and Industry Support Committee within the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. In 1979 the State Board of Vocational Rehabilitation established an Advisory Committee for Persons Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ACPDHH) to focus on the unique issues of customers who are deaf and hard of hearing. In conjunction with the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the Committee redrafted the Mental Health Bulletins to specifically address services to persons who are deaf, hard of hearing or deaf blind.

Mission:
To Serve as consultants to OVR in all areas related to the deaf or hard of hearing.

THE PENNSYLVANIA REHABILITATION COUNCIL

A statewide citizens group created to advise the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) about how well its programs and services match the needs of people with disabilities. Fifty percent of the Rehabilitation Council members are either persons with disabilities or have family members who are persons with disabilities.
